This article was originally published in The Tan Sheet

Executive Summary

ASTHMA ANTI-INFLAMMATORY THERAPY "REQUIRES PHYSICIAN INVOLVEMENT," FISONS representative Gene Bleecker, MD, University of Maryland, told a joint meeting of the Nonprescription Drugs and Pulmonary-Allergy Drugs Advisory Committees on Nov. 14. "Fisons Corporation is against the inclusion of cromolyn [Intal] as an over-the-counter medication," Bleecker told the committee. The mast cell stabilizer "requires chronic medication, chronic use and regular follow-up. It is not the kind of drag that can be used by patients on their own without education," he declared.
