The financial leverage multiplier, a measure of "the portion of the balance sheet that is financed through equity in the form of owners' capital contribution and current earnings versus debt as trade credit or borrowing" declined significantly, from 2.83 in 1992 to 2.48 in 1993, the survey finds.
