Executive Summary
Plans to shut down operations in Chicago, Houston and Michigan and close three additional stores in Florida and Ohio, the Youngstown, Ohio-based retailer said Aug. 9. Phar-Mor said this would be the "final round" of store closings related to the company's restructuring and added that it plans to begin expanding operations again when it emerges from Chapter 11. Overall, Phar-Mor will close 25 of its 168 stores, leaving 143 profitable stores in 21 states ("The Tan Sheet" April 19, 1993, p. 15)
