Executive Summary
DIETARY MAGNESIUM LINK TO IMPROVED LUNG FUNCTION is supported by a study published in the Aug. 6 issue of The Lancet. Conducted by John Britton, MD, University of Nottingham City Hospital, U.K., et al., the study evaluated dietary magnesium intake via a semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire in a random sample of 2,633 adults aged 18 to 70. After measuring lung function as one-second forced expiratory volume (FEV), the researchers found that a higher intake of magnesium was associated with an increase in FEV.
