Executive Summary
Manufacturer prices for nonprescription pharmaceutical products edged up just .3% during the second quarter of 1994 and are up .9% in the first half of the year, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics' Producer Price Index data. Most categories tracked in the PPI showed modest price inflation and two categories, laxatives and ophthalmic preparations, showed price decreases, falling 7.1% and 1.6%, respectively. Vitamins continue to show some price flexibility, rising 1% from March to June. However, the producer price index for B-complex vitamins slipped 1% in the quarter
