Executive Summary
Chattem submits to an administrative law judge June 15 a timetable to place 16 and 24-count packages of its menstrual pain product in child-resistant containers. "Following a program of consumer research," the company said, products in new packaging will ship to trade in April 1995, June 1995 or another date depending on which of three packaging options -- bottle, blister or pouch -- is chosen by August. The Consumer Product Safety Commission took Chattem to court in February, alleging the company violated the Poison Prevention Packaging Act by failing to market Pamprin with CRPs in "popular-size packages." An administrative judge ordered Chattem in March to submit a repackaging plan ("The Tan Sheet" March 28, p. 6)
