GNC TO INSTITUTE CLEARINGHOUSES FOR PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS at its distribution centers in the wake of a $2.4 mil. settlement with the Federal Trade Commission covering allegedly deceptive claims for certain products sold in its stores, General Nutrition Companies President and CEO William Watts announced to shareholders in an April letter. Watts said that "all promotional material" for products sold at GNC outlets "will be stocked and issued from our distribution centers" after corporate review.
