Executive Summary
Alliance for Aging Research sends a March 9 letter to FDA Commissioner David Kessler requesting that the agency issue a proposed rule for antioxidant health claims within 60 days. The Alliance claims that, according to FDA, "a recommendation by a public health organization providing credible information on diet and health opens the way for expedited review by the FDA." The letter follows the issuance of the Alliance's public health recommendations to increase daily intakes of vitamin E, vitamin C and beta carotene ("The Tan Sheet" March 7, p. 1)
