Executive Summary
Three reports mandated by the 1992 Dietary Supplement Act are delayed, with the General Accounting Office report on dietary supplement regulation not expected until May 1994. GAO expects that field research for the report will be completed by December. The Congressional Research Service's review on foreign regulation of dietary supplements also is in preliminary stages, but may be completed by January 1994, CRS said. An Office of Technology Assessment report is expected to be available this winter, with a background paper on the benefits of supplements preceding it.
