Executive Summary
Fred Shank, director of FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, receives Meritorious Executive Rank Award from the President "for confronting and resolving a variety of complex, difficult, controversial and precedent-setting problems and issues related to effectively, efficiently and economically administering and executing nationwide policies pertaining to food safety," according to an Oct. 28 FDA staff memo. The award includes a lump sum payment of $ 10,000.
