Executive Summary
Abbott Labs and the Federal Trade Commission tentatively settle anti-trust litigation charging Abbott with colluding with other infant formula marketers in its advertising. Abbott maintained in a statement that it "has always conducted its marketing practices in accordance with the law, and as part of this settlement, Abbott has agreed to continue to do this." There was no financial settlement in the agreement. A civil suit filed by FTC alleging that Abbott fixed prices in bidding for the Puerto Rican Special Supplemental Food Program for Woman, Infants and Children is still pending ("The Tan Sheet" May 31, p. 9), and expected to be heard sometime in 1994, Abbott said.
