Executive Summary
Mark Whitener is named acting deputy director of the Bureau of Competition in FTC's antitrust division. Whitener succeeds Mary Lou Steptoe, who left the post to become the bureau's acting director in November 1992. Whitener has served as assistant to the director of the bureau since 1991. Prior to that, he practiced antitrust and international law at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Steptoe & Johnson. The appointment is effective immediately.
