Benzoyl peroxide supplier's Elyria, Ohio manufacturing plant has been temporarily shut down for investigation and inspection following a series of explosions and fires that occurred Aug. 27. According to the Phillips Petroleum subsidiary, the fires did not destroy areas of the plant devoted to benzoyl peroxide production. The firm said it plans to supply its customers with benzoyl peroxide from reserve inventory. In addition, Aztec said it is in discussions with competitors to find an alternative supply of benzoyl peroxide for its customers. The company expects its benzoyl peroxide production to be back at full capacity in about two weeks.
