Executive Summary

Agrees to pay $ 1.8 mil. in cash and $ 19 mil. in coupons good for SmithKline OTC and H&BA products under a June 18 class action settlement relating to its Orafix denture products. The class action had asserted that the firm's Orafix Special and Orafix Brace products contained traces of benzene. SmithKline agreed to provide up to three coupon booklets per claimant redeemable for 18 consumer products. If booklets worth at least $ 10 mil. are not distributed, the remainder will be given to a "charitable organization designated by SmithKline," according to the settlement.
