Executive Summary
Gloucester, Mass.-based private label firm said it "anticipates first shipments to begin in late fall, 1993." NutraMax said it has signed "an exclusive manufacturing and supply agreement" with an undisclosed supplier covering private label products containing clotrimazole in both cream and insert forms. Currently, the only companies with approval to manufacture and market OTC clotrimazole products for yeast infections are Schering-Plough (Gyne-Lotrimin) and Miles (Mycelex). Schering- Plough, which has sought to delay generic clotrimazole approvals by petitioning FDA to set tougher standards for topical products, said it is not supplying NutraMax. The private label firm said its clotrimazole products will retail at a 30-45% discount to J&J's Monistat 7 and Gyne-Lotrimin.
