Pesticides in infant formula

Executive Summary
Recently published National Academy of Sciences report entitled "Pesticides in the Diet of Infants and Children" concludes that although pesticides in infant diets are a source of concern due to the relatively high caloric intake and rapid tissue growth of infants, "measurements have consistently demonstrated that no pesticides are detected in finished infant formulas" because of how they are processed. NAS' findings rely on study results published in the April issue of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology by Robert Gelardi and Mardi Mountford of the Infant Formula Council ("The Tan Sheet" May 10, p. 9)
