Executive Summary
HR 2493 moves to Senate after passing the House by a 334-119 vote on June 29. House rejected (172-255) a motion by Rep. John Myers (R-Ind.) to send bill back to committee with directions to cut all programs in the bill by 5%. Agriculture Subcommittee Chairman Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) objected that the amendment would reduce funding for FDA. Mark-up in the Senate Appropriations/agriculture subcommittee is expected in mid-to-late July
