Receives approximately 1,000 letters of intent and 600 complete applications to study alternative medicine in response to its first-ever request for applications in March ("The Tan Sheet" April 5, p. 6). At a June 10 meeting, the National Advisory Research Resources Council agreed to consider only the top 100 applications because only "up to 20" one-year awards will be made.
