Executive Summary
Wholesaler joins with Cooperation Pharmaceutique Francaise, the largest distributor of OTC drugs in France, in a June 1 bid on the French Stock Exchange to acquire Office Commercial Pharmaceutique, France's largest wholesaler. Under the previously announced joint tender offer ("The Tan Sheet" May 3, p. 16), Bergen and Cooper would pay about $ 435 mil. for OCP's 2.8 mil. outstanding shares. OCP's board has "approved and recommended" the transaction under which Bergen would get a 20-34% interest in the joint venture.
