Receives Feb. 24 response from FDA on its June 1985 request to put barley bran and citrus fiber tablets (Fibyrax) in Category I as an OTC bulk laxative. FDA noted that "barley bran could meet the criteria for 'bran' under the tentative final monograph" provided that Copenhagen, Denmark-based Farma Food "develop appropriate standards for ingredients in conjunction with USP" for barley bran and citrus fiber. The letter said that compendial standards also need to be developed for both ingredients.
