Essential-use designation for over-the-counter epinephrine metered-dose inhalers to continue using ozone-depleting substances as propellants will be discussed at a Jan. 24 joint meeting of FDA's Nonprescription Drugs and Pulmonary-Allergy Drugs advisory committees. OTC epinephrine products such as Wyeth's Primatene Mist use chlorofluorocarbon propellants.
