HHS’ O’Grady resigns

Executive Summary

HHS Assistant Secretary for Planning & Evaluation Michael O'Grady will resign from the post effective at the end of October, HHS announces Sept. 21. O'Grady is departing for personal reasons and says he is interested in joining the private sector. A successor is yet to be named. O'Grady was appointed to the position in 2003 by former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson and served on the Task Force on Drug Importation. O'Grady also served as a member of the Bipartisan Commission on Medicaid Reform; the committee's Sept. 1 report to HHS Secretary Leavitt outlined proposals for Medicaid to save $11 bil. over five years (1"The Pink Sheet" Sept. 5, 2005, p. 16)...
