MEDICARE Rx DRUG "OVERPAYMENTS" MAY BE TARGETED FOR MEDICARE EXPANSION FUNDING, Health Care Financing Administration chief Nancy-Ann Min DeParle said at a National Health Council briefing Jan. 7 in Washington, D.C. In President Clinton's Jan. 6 announcement of a proposal to expand the availability of Medicare coverage, he said that the short-term financial impact of the expansion will be offset by savings from new Medicare fraud and abuse proposals contained in his fiscal 1999 budget. The budget usually is delivered to Congress during the first week in February.
