Senate Health Committee will hold a hearing May 24 to discuss patient safety. Draft legislation creating incentives for voluntary reporting of medical errors is expected to be available prior to the hearing, committee minority staffer Edward Dunn, MD, said April 12 at the National Committee for Quality Health Care annual meeting. The proposal will include creation of a national patient safety center at the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality and confidentiality protection for data reported into quality improvement system
