Preliminary approval is granted to the $3.75 bil. Redux diet drug settlement, American Home Products announced Nov. 23. Beginning Dec. 1, a 120-day public notice period will commence during which "a variety of media will be used to reach the settlement class members." The class-action settlement is open to any individuals who took Redux (dexfenfluramine) or Pondimin (fenfluramine) regardless of whether or not they have lawsuits pending ("The Pink Sheet" Oct. 11, p. 28). The AmericanWarner merger agreement includes an escape clause for Warner-Lambert if the Redux liability is not resolved
