Agency is recruiting for newly created position, chief scientist, with responsibility for communicating agency's scientific efforts to the public. The chief scientist, along with the directors of FDA centers and the Office of Regulatory Affairs, will be responsible for the agency's research activities and budget. The agency expects to complete the search within the next six months. Drug companies and the trade association PhRMA have found it difficult to fill similar positions because of high demand
