Cortecs begins U.S. oral calcitonin Phase III trial enrollment in 600 osteoporosis patients.

CORTECS BEGINNING ORAL CALCITONIN PHASE II/III U.S. STUDY ENROLLMENT and plans to begin dosing before the end of 1997, Middlesex, U.K.-based Cortecs said. The three-year study of Macritonin (oral salmon calcitonin), to include about 600 patients with osteoporosis, will use bone mineral density as a key response criterion. Fracture rates will additionally be recorded during the trial, but will not be a primary endpoint, Cortecs said.
