ONCOLOGIC DRUG COMPOUNDING NOT ADVISED BY ISMP when equivalent therapies are available, Institute for Safe Medication Practices President Michael Cohen told the M.D. Anderson Annual Pharmacy Symposium on Cancer Chemotherapy in Houston on Oct. 15. To prevent medication errors, "pharmacy should not prepare products extemporaneously or in bulk when therapeutically equivalent products are commercially available," Cohen said.
