Executive Summary

STATE AIDS DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO RECEIVE FEDERAL SET-ASIDE OF $167 MIL. in 1997 under the omnibus spending bill signed into law Sept. 30. The increase in spending on the Ryan White Title II ADAPs was made in response to growing concerns about the deficits faced by the state programs. The approved FY 1997 appropriations level is an increase from the $117 mil. originally proposed by the Senate and the $75 mil. proposed by the House ("The Pink Sheet" Sept. 16, T&G-4).
