SCHERING/PENEDERM MENTAX "APPROVABLE" FOR TREATMENT OF ATHLETE'S FOOT, the company said April 9. Mentax (butenafine HCl 1% cream), a benzylamine derivative with fungicidal activity, reached the milestone one year after the NDA was filed in April 1995. The product uses Penederm's TopiCare polymer-based delivery system to deliver butenafine, which Penederm licenses from Kaken in Japan. Schering-Plough will copromote Mentax in the U.S.
