New York Medicaid outpatient drug co-payments to commence Sept. 1 statewide.
Executive Summary
NEW YORK MEDICAID OUTPATIENT DRUG CO-PAYMENTS TO COMMENCE Sept. 1, according to a July 18 letter to New York pharmacy providers from the state department of social services. Medicaid reimbursements to pharmacies would be reduced by the amount of the co-pay: $2 for brandname drugs and compounded drugs, 50› for generics and OTC drugs, and $1 per line item for sickroom supplies. New York's legislature recently extended the bill authorizing Medicaid co-payments for another two years; the bill would have expired June 30.
