MEDICARE Rx DRUG COVERAGE THROUGH APPROVED HEALTH PLANS is being promoted by Genentech in pre-session discussions on Capitol Hill as a warm-up for the 1994 round of health reform debates. Noting that the Clinton plan as submitted would rely on legislated formulas for reimbursements, pharmacy fees, and manufacturer rebates, Genentech is trying to round up support for an alternative, marketplace program to let individual plans provide the pharmaceutical coverage to seniors.
