Top 10 drug companies accounted for less than 37% of total retail prescription volume and less than 51% of total dollar sales in 1992, Phoenix-based market research firm Walsh America Ltd. reports. Walsh notes that generic manufacturer Rugby Labs dispensed 5.4% of total prescription volume; number one in sales, Merck accounted for $2 bil. to retail level, or 8% of total volume.
