CDC’s Roper
Executive Summary
Center for Disease Control and Prevention Director William Roper, MD/MPH, will join Prudential as president of the insurer's National Center for Health Care Research, which begins operations in September. Based in Atlanta, the new unit will coordinate research for the evaluation of medical care delivered to the 3.5 mil. individuals enrolled in Prudential's managed care programs. The company says that it will commit $20 mil. to the center's research activities over the next few years. Roper has had a distinguished career in the federal government having served as head of the Health Care Financing Administration and as an advisor to Presidents Reagan and Bush.
