FDA meets recently with West Company and Upjohn to discuss the possibility of the firms developing computerized DMFs on a pilot basis. Possible product DMFs that could be involved include bulk drug substances and rubber stoppers or containers. A computerized DMF system would help address the problem of accessing the 2,000 DMFs used regularly for ANDA reviews.
