Executive Summary
Delayed until early 1992 to allow HHS' Agency for Health Care Policy and Research to make further revisions, officials say. The agency initially predicted an Oct. 2 release date, but subsequently bumped that to Nov. 19 and then to early December. AHCPR also may issue guidelines on urinary incontinence and pressure sores along with the acute pain release, staffers say. The acute pain guidelines are expected to focus on the management of surgical patients, but the AHCPR advisory panel will be issuing future guidelines on pain management for cancer patients and chronically ill patients. . . .
