New Jersey Medicaid official Sanford Lugar
Sanford Lugar, RPh, consultant pharmacist for New Jersey's Medicaid and PAAD programs, is joining Medco Containment Services July 29 as VP-public entitlement programs. Lugar's new reponsibilities will include development and marketing of mail service, drug utilization review and claims processing for Medicaid and other state drug coverage programs, including a recent Medco contract with New York Medicaid to provide a mail order benefit. New Jersey's $ 2.9 bil. Medicaid program covers 537,000 individuals, while casino- and lottery-funded Pharmaceutical Assistance for the Aged and Disabled program covers 230,000 individuals who are low income but do not qualify for Medicaid. PAAD's annual budget is about $ 147 mil.
