FDA advisory committees
Executive Summary
FDA Commissioner Kessler has assumed the authority directly to nominate advisory committee members, to establish committee charters, and to reimburse members. The new authority was granted through the FDA Revitalization Act, which became law late last year. Previously, committee nominations and charters had to be cleared by HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Mason and HHS Secretary Sullivan.
