Executive Summary
Acquires Medtronic's electrotransport business unit for an undisclosed amount. The option to purchase the Medtronic operation was part of a 1990 agreement between Alza, Medtronic and Bio- Electro Systems, a developer of drug delivery systems using electrotransport and bioerodible polymer drug delivery technology. Alza also has an option, until the fourth quarter of 1991, to purchase all Bio-Electro Systems.
