OTC pyrithione zinc
Effective active ingredient level will be lowered to 0.3% from 0.95% in the final monograph on dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis products, FDA informed Procter & Gamble July 5. P&G petitioned FDA in September 1987 to include the pyrithione zinc 0.3% rinse in the TFM. An NDA for a 0.3% formulation was approved in March 1986. Pyrithione zinc 1% is the active ingredient in Head & Shoulders.
