GAO on FDA recall authority
"FDA should be able to initiate recalls rather than having to wait for manufacturers to do so," General Accounting Office Assistant Comptroller General Eleanor Chelimsky contended at a Capitol Hill hearing Nov. 6. She was testifying before Rep. Waxman's Energy & Commerce/Health Subcommittee on two GAO reports on medical device recalls.
