NIAID community AIDS research grants
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases awarded $ 9 mil. in first-year grants to 18 "front line" community AIDS research programs. Funding, which will be continued at unspecified levels over the next four years, is for a program, not a specific protocol. Protocols will be developed with the assistance of NIAID. The awards were divided between 11 programs with limited clinical trials experience and eight with clinicalsin place.
