Rep. Guarini (D-NJ) introduces bills April 5 to suspend import tariffs on the drug intermediaries for 3 years. Levodopa, diflunisal and ADC-6 are components of Merck drugs. For example, levodopa is used in the Rahway, N.J. company's Sinemet and diflunisal is a component of Dolobid. Components are not manufactured in the U.S., according to Guarini's staff. HR 1695, HR 1696 and HR 1697 were referred to House Ways & Means Committee.
