Executive Summary
On Oct. 4, President Reagan signed S 2846, which "authorizes appropriations of $ 15 mil. through March 1989 for grants to states for the provision of drugs used to treat AIDS," a White House statement announces. The special appropriation was designed for Burroughs Wellcome's Retrovir (AZT), and the company is providing $ 5 mil. of the funds through a one-time grant.
