Executive Summary
Monsanto shareholder Richard Rand suing Monsanto and its newly-acquired Searle unit, charging that prior to the merger, the companies did not disclose lawsuits against Searle. In a lawsuit filed in a federal court in Chicago, Rand said that the value of Searle's shares was "artifically inflated" since the extent of the legal problems with the Copper-7 intrauterine device was not disclosed.
