FDA Drug Chemistry Div.
Executive Summary
The agency is abolishing the division and reassigning 20 chemists to "higher priority requirements in the Center for Drugs and Biologics." An FDA official said the majority of chemists will be assigned to the agency's six new drug evaluation divisions, and others may be given assignments at NIH, in the generic division, or to review INDs. The changes, expected to be completed by Sept. 20, are mandated in FDA's 1987 budget.
