Executive Summary
Executive Assistant to the Commissioner Joseph Levitt brings on three-member team to advise the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner on agency direction on a wide range of issues. The staff, described by some as a "think tank," will use as its guiding force the agency's new Action Plan. The group includes William Prettyman, special assistant to the director of the Center for Drugs and Biologics, to focus on drug issues, and Christopher Smith, on detail from Legislative Affairs, to handle food-related issues. The remaining position for devices, radiological health and veterinary medicine has not yet been filled.
