Medical reform key to Italy hospital throughput?:

Italian health minister Girolamo Sirchia has confirmed his commitment to reforming the medical profession in hospitals as a means to improving hospital throughput, after admitting delays in proceedings aimed at legislating on the issue. Patients are currently forced to pay for treatment, he said, in order to avoid the long and growing waiting lists.
